Originally from Canada, Ehryn Torrell lives and works in London, UK. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally since 2001, including the touring solo exhibition Self-Similar organised by St. Mary's University Art Gallery and The Painting Project by Galerie de L'UQAM. In 2017, her work is part of a touring group exhibition of Contemporary British Painting in several Chinese museums, including Jiangsu Art Museum and Tianjin Academy of Fine Art. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Joseph Plaskett Foundation Award for painting (2006) and grants from both the Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council. She is a frequent guest lecturer at symposiums and art institutions, and an active member of the Feminist Duration Reading Group in London. Torrell has travelled extensively for research and has attended several international residencies, including the Doris McCarthy Artist Residency (Canada), The Expansionists (UK), Florence Trust (UK), Fiskars (Finland) and LKV (Noway).
