Ehryn Torrell is a Canadian visual artist whose work in painting uses the lens of the built environment to explore the human condition. Her new major body of work, Self-similar, is exhibiting in several Canadian public galleries in 2011 and 2012, including the MacDonald Stewart Art Centre in Guelph and St. Mary's University Art Gallery in Halifax. A catalogue with critical texts by curators Robin Metcalfe and Judith Nasby, as well as an essay by UK-based curator Jane Neal, will follow. Torrell would like to gratefully acknowledge the support of both the Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council. Torrell recently completed a year-long residency at the Florence Trust Studios in London, England, where she was awarded the 2011 Patrick Hamilton Studio Bursary for painting. She currently lives and works in London, UK.
